About Us

Who We Are

Al and Liz have canoed many parts of Ontario and Canada, traveling and exploring new regions, either through extended remote wilderness adventures or extreme whitewater play. They have logged thousands of kilometers, in both solo and tandem canoes, on powerful mountainous rivers, picturesque hinterland lakes and the shores of Lake Superior. Al is an Ontario Recreational Canoeing Instructor in Whitewater and holds Level II certification in Wilderness Tripping. As well, he holds Swift Water Rescue Technician II certification. Liz has been teaching with the London District Catholic School Board since 1987 and holds a Master of Arts degree.  She is certified in Level II Whitewater.

They’ve been traveling with their two daughters since the girls were infants and are currently introducing them to higher levels of skill sets and challenging remote wilderness travel through canoeing.

Their love for the outdoors and the environment are clearly evident.  They enjoy sharing this healthy, active and rewarding pastime with others.

Our Philosophy

We, at Canoe Water Adventuring, believe the canoe to be a source of freedom, thrill, tranquility and undeniable passion. For us, the canoe has become more than a hobby or form of leisure activity; it has become a way of life. The canoe has brought us together as a family and as individuals has enhanced our life and developed our mode of thinking.

It is a passion, which has led us on extended wilderness canoe trips while embracing our love and respect for the environment. It is a passion, which has led us to develop a children’s whitewater boat, the Splash, to allow youth to enhance their own skills and delight for the outdoors. It is a passion, which has led us into sharing our love of the outdoors and canoeing with others. It is our aspiration to encourage and develop in others an enthusiasm of paddling and love of the outdoors.
